Genomics and Proteomics Laboratory I

The laboratory is mainly used for teaching laboratory methods for molecular biology. There is a processing of DNA molecules consisting of isolation of plant and animal DNA, followed by DNA quality and quantity control, amplification of DNA regions of interest and restriction digestion evaluated by electrophoretic separation. When working with proteins, students will try their isolation and separation using 2D electrophoresis. Furthermore, the laboratory is used for research activities in the field of quantification of gene expression using qPCR and nanopore sequencing.
